With a beefy look, strong V8, and the right features (including air conditioning), this 1986 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4×4 Silverado delivers the goods

And if you’ve been watching the market, you know the price is awesome from something this complete.

This full-size Blazer is a desirable example that is believed to have been a western SUV all its life up until 2020. And this one really looks like it was built to spend its days out on the ranch. The big brush guard with fog lights up front, tubular side steps, upgraded alloys, and tall stance give this both a beauty and function. The black paint attractively contrasts the premium Silverado bright trim package, and at the same time, the paint has a nice gloss that goes well with the overall shine of this K5. The full appearance has the ideal balance of a sharp-looking classic in town, but it’s nothing too fancy to make you hesitate enjoying this 4×4 to the fullest out in nature.

You’ll especially appreciate the upscale Silverado trim on the interior. You get a set of cushy bucket seats up front with a large cup holder center console in-between. And this full-size Blazer means there’s plenty of space to comfortably carry even adults in the back. The large tailgate gives you access to a big cargo area, and it’s also great for sitting on while roasting campfire marshmallows. But even when it’s just you, this SUV is easy to enjoy. The controls are all centered around the driver, including the full gauge package. It’s an easy reach to the cruise control, power windows, power locks, and a tilt steering column. And since you have the freedom of the removable hardtop over the rear, it’s nice to enjoy the convertible feeling while still staying cool with cold-blowing R134a air conditioning.

Under the hood is a proper Chevy 350 cubic inch V8. It has a great stock-style presentation, but this is actually a younger motor. So it’s unknown if the odometer reflects the SUV’s actual mileage. This V8 loves to fire up eagerly as it inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. And it’s a great driver with power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and a smooth-shifting three-speed automatic transmission. Plus, when the pavement ends, the two-speed 4×4 transfer case and meaty Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires keep you moving forward with ease.
